Holistic healing

starts in nature

Reconnect with nature,
revive your wellbeing.

EcoHealing is about connecting people with nature and creating a sense of belonging and personal wellbeing. We believe that nature is a key setting for long-term mindset and behaviour changes.

We take mental health from the clinic to the great outdoors with therapist-led interventions, to find balance in our inner and outer worlds.

We are a charitable organisation that promotes holistic health and wellbeing among individuals and their communities.

Mindfully crafted

With our vast experience and training, we have carefully developed four unique ecotherapy programs to suit different needs.

Individual

Individual

When individuals are asked about their happiest memories, it is oftentimes a memory that took place outdoors: at a park, in the backyard, camping, by a body of water, looking at the stars or simply relaxing under a tree. EcoHealing provides an opportunity to re-engage with nature.

Family

Family

We can customise a program to work with your family system.  Research shows that we can have more impact working with the family system or the ecosystem rather than with one individual at a time. Time spent in nature together in the outdoors can lead to greater emotional wellbeing, plus it gives insight into what is happening for your family group. We can customise an experience that helps grow and improve your family's wellbeing.

Small Groups & Corporate Retreats

Small Groups & Corporate Retreats

Do something different! Get your team outdoors. We offer custom corporate retreats or day workshops to engage and invigorate your team. We believe in utilizing the outdoors to build culturally cohesive teams. We can create an experience that helps you to understand your team better, build connections and renew energy in your group. We have qualified staff, including outdoor educators and psychologists, who will support you with your activities, team development, cooking and accommodation.

Large Groups

Large Groups

We customise programs for large organisations onsite at your workplace, or you can come to us. Less than 2 hours from Brisbane, we have facilities in a stunning natural space on 50 acres that accommodate up to 170 people. We have a team of outdoor educators and psychologists to support you with your team retreat. We'll put together a customised experience to meet your group needs and philosophies. This can include 1-day team-building exercises through to week-long retreats with all accommodation, food and activities included.

The benefits of ecopsychology.

In a 2019 study, researchers found that those who spent two hours in green spaces reported better health and wellbeing.

Another found that more exposure to nature led to better community cohesion and lower crime rates.

This growing number of studies are pointing to the same findings: that mindful exposure to natural environments is beneficial to a person's health and healing.

President

Veronica McKeon

Veronica is a Psychologist and Co-Director at Mindware Psychology.

With 20+ years of experience and recently completing a Masters in Clinical Psychology, Veronica is passionate about exploring the new frontiers of Psychology, where mind, body and the natural environment come together to create change.

Nature is often inspirational and full of symbols that can promote change and learning. For Veronica one of these has been the Lotus Flower. This flower grows in the deep mud, far away from the sun, but sooner or later the lotus flower reaches the light to become a beautiful bloom. Given the right experiences and support, everyone has the potential to grow and blossom.

Vice President

Suzie Collins

Suzie has always had a passion for the great outdoors, with many fond memories of camping, swimming or simply walking in nature. It is certainly her ‘happy place’ and a great place to re-align her homeostasis.

In 2016, Suzie had the opportunity to enjoy many mindful moments while trekking through the Himalayas of Nepal with a small group of like-minded mental health professionals. A quote, which has stayed with her from this time is “our bodies are made for walking, it's our mind that doesn’t allow it”.

This was intriguing and was certainly very powerful and helpful on those long, uphill treks! Let’s get outdoors more and allow nature to re-align ourselves.

Secretary

Tanya Hall

Tanya is a Clinical Psychologist and owner of an Outdoor Education Centre. Tanya is a believer in using the outdoors as a therapy tool. She is not a huge “adventurer” but loves just sitting, talking and walking in the outdoors.

Tanya loves “moving” her body and likes “active mindfulness”. There is nothing like sitting outside and feeling the sun on your face, smelling the fresh air and observing the wildlife.

Tanya has 20+ years experience working with young people who are at-risk and “involuntary”, and she believes working with people and their ecosystem (their family, community, workplace) in an outdoor setting can achieve outcomes that are just not seen in a clinical setting.

Board.

The EcoHealing board and team are a highly experienced group of leaders who are passionate about helping people triumph over their challenges and find peace through nature.

As practising psychologists, they are equipped to lead, guide, and nurture your journey.

“There is an awakening underway today to many of the values of nature and the risks and costs of its loss,”

— Gretchen Daily, Director of the Natural Capital Project and senior researcher at Stanford University
